Chicago-Style Bakery Apple Slices

Okay, confession: I’ve never been to Chicago. So no, I haven’t had the real-deal bakery apple slices straight from the Windy City. But the moment I saw pictures of that crackly glaze giving way to layers of buttery crust and gooey apple filling—I had to try making them at home.

One of the best things about baking? It lets you travel without leaving your kitchen. My home might not be a Chicago bakery, but with a pan of these fragrant, sweet apple slices cooling on the counter… it’s close enough. Yours can be too.

All you need is flaky pie dough, sweet apple filling, and a glossy vanilla glaze. They look bakery-worthy, but they’re surprisingly easy to pull off.
