Big Mac Smash Tacos

Introduction

These Big Mac Smash Tacos combine two comfort-food favorites into one seriously addictive meal. Thin layers of seasoned ground beef are smashed directly onto tortillas, cooked until crispy and caramelized, then topped with melted cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, onions, and creamy Big Mac-style sauce.

They’re fast, messy, cheesy, and packed with the flavors of a classic cheeseburger—but in crispy taco form.

Ingredients

Smash Tacos

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef, preferably 80/20
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Big Mac-Style Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickles
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Toppings

  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ½ cup finely diced onion
  • ½ cup diced dill pickles
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Equipment

  • Large cast-iron or non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Cutting board

Instructions

Step 1

Mix all the Big Mac-style sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

Cover and refrigerate while preparing the tacos.

Step 2

Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions.

Place one portion directly onto each tortilla.

Press the beef firmly across the tortilla, spreading it almost to the edges.

Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 3

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.

Place the tortilla beef-side down in the hot skillet.

Immediately press firmly with a spatula for about 10 seconds.

Cook for 2–3 minutes, until the beef develops a deeply browned crust.

Step 4

Flip the tortilla.

Place a slice of American cheese over the beef.

Cook for another 1–2 minutes, until the cheese melts and the tortilla becomes lightly crisp.

Step 5

Remove from the skillet.

Immediately add:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced onion
  • Pickles
  • Big Mac-style sauce

Step 6

Fold the tortilla like a taco.

Repeat with the remaining tortillas and beef.

Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Chef’s Tips

✅ Use 80/20 beef for juicy smash tacos.

✅ Spread the beef very thin so it develops crispy edges.
