Leave 5 mint leaves on the window before going to bed – here’s why

Very often we come across small insects that can be annoying if they become regular roommates.  That is why we usually try to remedy them with chemical remedies,  which in many cases are not even too effective. In reality,  it would be enough to have one or more mint seedlings to solve the problem in a completely natural way  . The plant itself is already an excellent repellent against spiders, mosquitoes and other insects. However, those who want a wider spectrum of action can resort to the leaves. In fact, it is enough to have five mint leaves on the windowsill in the evening and crush them slightly to prevent unwanted insects from settling in our home.

Mint leaves are often used as a natural repellent, even against mosquitoes  . Inside them, they contain a substance called menthol, an essential oil with excellent repellent properties. When mint leaves are crushed or burned, they give off a strong smell that repels insects while releasing a pleasant fresh aroma.

Thanks to their strong repellent effect, they can also be used against other animals, such as mice.  In fact, menthol has  a strong and unpleasant smell for the olfactory sense of rats, which they like to stay away from.

The leaves of this fragrant plant can also be used as a natural cleaning agent to clean floors  , so the repellent effect lasts longer. Menthol has antibacterial properties that help remove dirt and prevent the growth of bacteria, so they can be used to clean hard surfaces such as floors and furniture, especially in the presence of insects.  However, if you want to be more targeted, you can easily make a repellent spray  whose main ingredient is mint essential oil, possibly pure and organic, for a higher repellent effect.
