Twisted Sugar Puff Pastry Rollss

Introduction

Twisted Sugar Puff Pastry Rolls are light, flaky, buttery pastries with beautiful golden layers and a delicate dusting of powdered sugar. Crispy on the outside and soft inside, they are perfect for breakfast, tea time, or a simple sweet treat.

Ingredients

1 package puff pastry sheets (thawed if frozen)

3 tablespoons melted butter

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Roll out the puff pastry sheet lightly on a floured surface.

Brush melted butter evenly over the surface.

Sprinkle sugar (and cinnamon if using) evenly on top.

Fold the pastry in half lengthwise.

Cut into strips about 1 inch wide.

Twist each strip gently and shape into small knots or spirals.

Place on prepared baking sheet.

Brush lightly with beaten egg.

Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and puffed.

Cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar.

How to Make

Keep puff pastry cold before baking for better flakiness.

Do not overwork the dough to maintain layers.

Twist gently without stretching too much.

Space pastries apart to allow proper puffing.

Let cool slightly before dusting with sugar to prevent melting.

Variations

Chocolate Twist: Sprinkle mini chocolate chips before folding.

Nutella Filled: Spread a thin layer of Nutella before twisting.

Lemon Sugar: Add lemon zest to the sugar mixture.

Savory Version: Skip sugar and fill with cheese or pesto.

Almond Style: Add almond paste and sliced almonds on top.
