The Greasy Spot on Your Stove That Everyone Forgets

The Greasy Spot on Your Stove That Everyone Forgets

You can wipe your stovetop after cooking and still have a layer of grease hiding in plain sight.

One of the most overlooked areas is the space around the burners and underneath removable parts.

Tiny drops of oil, sauce, and food can get into these areas while you’re cooking. Over time, they become sticky and much harder to remove.

Here’s a simple way to tackle the mess.

Wait until everything is completely cool

Never start cleaning a stovetop while it’s still hot.

Turn off the burners and allow the entire surface to cool completely before removing any parts or wiping it down.

This is especially important if you’re working around gas burners.

Remove what you can

If your stovetop has removable grates, burner caps, or other removable components, take them off according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Place them somewhere safe while you clean the main surface.

You’ll often discover crumbs and greasy residue underneath that you couldn’t see before.

Start with dish soap

You don’t necessarily need a powerful degreaser for everyday grease.

Mix warm water with a small amount of dish soap.

Dip a microfiber cloth or soft sponge into the solution and wring it out well.

Then gently wipe the greasy areas.

Give stubborn spots a little time to soften instead of immediately scrubbing aggressively.

Don’t attack everything with a rough sponge

Abrasive scrubbers can scratch certain stovetop finishes.

If you’re dealing with glass or ceramic surfaces, be especially careful and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.

For stuck-on residue, use a cleaning tool specifically recommended for your type of stovetop.
