The knobs are another area that gets surprisingly dirty.
Every time you adjust the heat, your hands can transfer grease and food residue onto them.
If the knobs are removable and the manufacturer allows it, remove them and clean them separately.
Otherwise, wipe around them carefully with a slightly damp cloth.
Avoid getting excess liquid into controls or electrical components.
Don’t forget the wall behind the stove
Cooking splatters don’t always land on the stovetop.
Check the backsplash and the wall immediately behind your cooking area.
A thin layer of grease can build up there without being obvious until dust starts sticking to it.
Clean the surface according to its material and finish.
The easiest way to prevent a big buildup
Don’t wait until the grease becomes thick and sticky.
After cooking, once the surface is completely cool, give the stovetop a quick wipe.
It takes much less effort to remove fresh cooking residue than months of hardened grease.
And the next time you clean your stove, don’t just look at the part that’s easiest to see.
Lift the removable pieces and check underneath.
That’s often where the mess has been hiding.
